Oh this family! They were so much fun, but even more than that, they were pure joy to be around. The matriarch, or Mim as her grandchildren call her, works in the superintendent of school's office so I have known her for years but this was the first time that I got a chance to meet her clan, and what a wonderful clan it is. We met last weekend and although it was rather cloudy, and a bit chilly, everyone was in pretty high spirits. It was obvious that they love to be together. We started with some shots of the whole group.
Today’s post is a little bittersweet, Birica is my last member of the Class of 2016. Talk about saving the best for last, Birica was awesome!! But all of my seniors this year were pretty awesome so instead of saving the best for last, in actuality it is more a case of the icing on the cake (see told you that clichés are the bread and butter of bloggers). I mean, look at this smile, is that not awesome??
I can’t say enough about what a good sport Hannah was. It was cold out the morning that we met, and not only did Hannah not complain about it, the smile never left her face the whole time. It’s a total cliché but getting to hang with Hannah and her general awesomeness warmed me right up (hey, clichés are the bread and butter of bloggers).
I haven’t done one of these in a while, well I haven’t done either in a while, a shout out or a Friday night video. But a shout out is what I was referring to and it is well deserved today. The AP Scholar Awards were published by our high school yesterday so I would like to offer my congratulations to all, well done!! But I want to send a special congratulations to my Class of 2015 and 2016 members. My own Class of 2015 member (who is on the list, so proud of all of her for always working so hard) sent me a text that said, “A lot of your seniors got an AP award.” See that, even my kids know that they are my seniors!! So congratulations to last year’s seniors: Abbie, Kati, Shannon H, Kate, Jimmy, Ashley M, Michaela, Steven B, Kristina, Evan, Sarah A., Aastha and to this year’s seniors: Taryn, Alyssa, and Darya. Well done, so happy for you all!!
Michael’s shoot was really fun for a multitude of reasons. It was at one of my favorite places, it was an absolutely gorgeous day outside (like a top 10 day, sunny, 70, plenty of foliage) and Michael himself was a great subject. He was a really good sport about the whole thing. He is also super talented but we’ll get to more on that in a minute.
Oh my goodness, get ready for cuteness family overload. I love this family, they are awesome. And oh so many connections, I work with the mom, the oldest went to our school for a year, I have taken pictures of the boys several times since 2011 (well the first couple of times were just the oldest, the younger one didn’t arrive on the scene until 2013). Plus all of my daughters have babysat for the boys at one time or another. I know that I am leaving the dad out in all of this, I don’t really know him all that well but the few times that I have met him, he has been great. Especially when we met last Monday, he was such a good sport, it was a kind of hot out and he ended up carrying one or the other of the boys around the whole time!! It made for good pictures though and really what is a little blood, sweat and tears when it comes to getting good pictures, right?? Just kidding about the blood, not one Kalianiotis was harmed during the making of these pictures, ha!
It really was the most picture perfect, glorious day so we just wandered around a bit. They had never been there and they couldn’t get over what a pretty park it is, we started with some of the 4 of them and some of just the boys.
What a sweetheart Denise was. I had never met her before and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her and spending some time with her. It was a beautiful fall afternoon when we met and we took full advantage. I also took full advantage of Denise’s good nature, cooperative spirit and mad posing skills!!
Surprise! What a fun party! And, what a successful surprise too, the guest of honor admitted that he had no idea about the party until right before he opened the door. It was so nice to see his entrance and to share in the excitement of his special night. It really speaks to how loved and respected he is, everyone was very anxious to say hello and wish him a happy birthday!
Have I got a treat for you all today! I have known these girls for years, the older one is the same year as my son and the younger one has been good friends with my youngest for years. They are wonderful girls, sweet, polite, really nice and oh yeah, really pretty too!!
I had a wonderful time with this family, what a nice family! It was a beautiful day the day that we met, a bit chilly but very nice nonetheless. The Kelloggs also looked very nice, dressed in gray, black and burgundy. Gray, black and burgundy (or red) is a really smart choice for complementary colors for pictures, it photographs very nicely and it goes with pretty much everything. And as if the human Kelloggs all dressed up wasn’t great family overload already, they also brought along their dog Danika, how fun!
The good news is that I was very busy this week, the better news is that the weather was absolutely perfect all weekend and the even better news is that I got to spend a significant portion of the weekend surrounded by natural beauty like this:
The only bad news is that I was so busy that I don't have anything ready for today, not even a sneak peek or two. Hopefully I can correct that in the next day or so. Happy Tuesday, everyone, have a great day!
What a great guy Derek is. It was such a pleasure to spend some time with him last Sunday. He was polite, cooperative and just all around a great sport. He actually started me on a streak of great seniors. Well I have been on a fantastic roll of seniors this whole season but I had met most of them in the past. Derek started a stretch of seniors that I had not had the pleasure of meeting before and it has been great getting a chance to meet them, they all have been awesome (I have one this afternoon and I have no doubt that he will continue the trend.)
It is so appropriate that I am writing Nick's post now because Nick has played baseball for years and the baseball playoffs started this week. I have to say that I am not a huge fan of the new format with the play in games. I could list the reasons why but then this simple tangent would become a full-fledged rant and we don’t want that so off the tangent and back to Nick and how awesome he is!
Oh look at that, another Tuesday and another sneak peek. Hmm. I think that I need to make Tuesday my official sneak peek day, too bad it doesn't have an alliteration like Throwback Thursday. Although sneak peeks are rather tantalizing, don't you think?? Ha! Nick and Derek were both pretty wonderful to work with, maybe I should hold their sneak peek off a day and call it wonderful Wednesday? Nah, I am too excited to share these guys to wait any longer. Enjoy this sneak and look for more on these guys later this week.
So not only did I get to meet with Alyssa last Saturday, I also got a chance to meet with Caroline as well. I was lucky enough to work with her family a few years back so I was thrilled when her mom contacted me about taking Caroline’s senior pictures. It was great to see Caroline again, I can’t believe that it’s been 2 years since I have seen her, it seems like it was just a little bit ago that I met with them. Where does the time go? Oh I know, it goes towards making seniors like Caroline grow up beautifully (and towards making me feel old!)
