Catherine and Matthew had such a beautiful, and heartfelt, wedding ceremony. Like the rest of the wedding weekend, it took place at the charming Publick House Historic Inn in Sturbridge. If you know Cat and Matt, you know that this was the perfect place for them, mostly because of that key word in the name, Historic. They both love history. In fact, it can be argued that their mutual love of history was a major factor in making them realize that they were meant for each other. One thing for sure, it certainly wasn't their baseball team allegiances (more on that in a bit). Matt was escorted in by both of his parents (they looked lovely, or dashing, in the case of his dad). They were then followed by the rest of the wedding party.
They had some pretty adorable kids in the wedding including Matt's youngest niece, I think that she was pretty excited when she spotted her parents up front (they were officiating the ceremony).
And then it was time for the bride to enter, escorted by her mom. When I saw her, the word regal immediately came to mind. Well actually my mind was torn between regal, stunning and breathtaking, I'll let you be the judge. By the way, I am pretty sure that Matt was on the same wavelength (umm, Matt, thinking like me, you may want to be afraid, be very afraid!
The ceremony itself was wonderful. It started out with Catherine's sister lighting a candle in loving memory of all of those that could not be present. Then Matt's sister and her husband took over, Matthew and Catherine had asked them to officiate and they did a splendid job. Then a couple of their dear friends were kind enough to do readings, the first reading was a Shakespearean sonnet (I am not the biggest fan of public speaking so I think that doing a reading may be the hardest job at a wedding ,although bustling. may give it a run for the money). In case you are wondering, they both were awesome!
Then it was time for the vows and the rings. Matthew and Catherine wrote their own vows, my own personal philosophy is that If you can invoke visible emotion, then you are doing something right. By this criteria, Cat and Matt were a smashing success. Although to be fair, they got here easily, all it really took was mentioning their baseball allegiances. See, Cat is a die-hard Red Sox fan while Matt is a rigid, uncompromising, Yankees fan. Sorry, Matt, I'm a Red Sox fan, I just couldn't resist throwing those in here when they came up as synonyms for die-hard in the thesaurus. What I really mean is that Matt is a staunch, true blue Yankee's fan, and from what I hear from Cat, true blue is a perfect description for Matt. Not because he is a huge Yankees fan (which he is) but because he's a stand up guy and super loyal too!
It was such a beautiful ceremony that there was nothing left to be said, well except maybe, "You may kiss the bride" so ..:
Now how can you top that? Well most likely you can't so you have no choice but to leave, so they did::
And so everyone else did too:
The bride and groom managed to capture a moment or two before it was time to get ready for the reception.
