I recently received notification that the students at my school have been invited to participate in a poetry contest. I spent most of my library classes yesterday explaining the contest to my classes and determining if there was any interest in participating. Now comes the first part of the coincidence, any type of poetry will be accepted but the focus this year will be on haiku. For those that don't know, haiku is a special form of poetry that is 17 syllables total and usually has a 5-7-5 syllable pattern. The other part of the coincidence? Well between the Pats winning and advancing to the AFC Championship game and that absolutely epic playoff game between Baltimore and Denver, I decided to read Peter King's Monday Morning Quarterback Column last night, for the first time all season. Well, he ended his column in the following way:
Peter King's The Adieu Haiku
Peyton and playoffs.
Nine and eleven. That hurts.
But numbers don't lie.
Now I haven't read all season so I don't know if he has been doing this all season but this was a first for me so I thought that it was kind of cool (it's the little things in life).
And just so I am not left out, I wrote my own coincidence haiku (coincidence is actually easy to use in a haiku since it is 4 syllables all by itself).
They make me really happy
Truly make my day
The picture is from last year's pre-Super Bowl rally (after the Pats beat Baltimore in the AFC championship game). It was a lot of fun and I wouldn't mind getting the chance to go to another one, just saying!
