I am on quite a roll these days. Not only has every day that I have scheduled portrait sessions been absolutely perfect (temperatures AND lighting) but the kids have been absolutely perfect as well. And Derek was certainly no exception, he was very pleasant and agreeable and once he warmed up to me, all too willing to flash his fabulous smile. I met him and his mother on Thursday night and we went to the Bradley Estate in Canton (seriously may be my new favorite place, the light there is just fantastic). I know Derek's mother from my work at the schools and she is a really nice person and it certainly seems like the apple did not fall far from the tree. Derek took everything I asked him to do in stride and needed very little direction when it came to posing. As a matter of fact, his mom and I were teasing him that he could seriously be a model. C'mon, look at these and tell me that he doesn't have that American Eagle or Hollister look? When I was chatting with Derek about senior year and college, I asked him what he was thinking of majoring in and where he would like to go. He told me that he wants to go into music engineering. How cool is that? I have never known a music engineer, I only hope that Derek remembers me when he is rich and famous someday. Maybe he can hook me up with tickets for whatever cool act that he's produced (hmm, I wonder what you call it, produced, worked on, engineered? I should have asked Derek.) His mom stayed in the background but she would occasionally say or do something that would make Derek smile or even laugh. When I asked him where he wanted to go to school, he told me that one of the schools that he was interested in was in Florida. I asked him if he thought he would mind being that far away and he said that he didn't think he would. I think maybe he will mind a little though, especially since his mom can get him to smile like this. I would like to thank Derek and his mom for being so awesome. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with them, it made me realize anew that I really have the best job/hobby EVER!! To see the rest of Derek's pictures, please click here.
