Since it's officially fall, we have now moved on to our fall to do list. The first thing on our list is apple picking with some friends from college. The weather forecast was dicey but we decided to stick with the plan anyway and hope that we would be able to dodge the rain. We did get the picking in but not without some serious mud, which of course the kids could not resist:
We do the same things in the same order, every year (my kids are definitely creatures of habit). We take a picture on a ladder,
then the moms visit the store while....
the kids watch "How It's Made" cider donut edition.
This year featured a new wrinkle since this family randomly asked my 9 year old to take their picture. What's up with that? Did she really look like the best option? Of course it would have been nice if I offered but I was too far away. Actually I was just more interested in taking a picture of the picture.
The apple picking portion of the day always ends with a hay ride and for the last 3 years or so the kids have gone by themselves. This driver wasn't too comfortable with that idea and read them the riot act before they left. He even joked that he would leave them out in the orchard if they misbehaved. At least I think it was a joke. Luckily for us, he returned with everyone.
We then went back to my friends' house for dinner and some home made apple crisp, yum. The day, well night ended with some spectacular fireworks as part of their town's annual festival. Once again, the day and the fireworks did not disappoint!!
Speaking of fall to do lists, I hope to have all my headers changed from a summer to a fall theme by the end of the week.
