What I love: Being able to do research at home, relatively peaceful car rides, getting a book for my e-reader any time of day or night, all that photo blog stalking that I do, just to name a few.
What I worry about: Everything but especially: the fact that it's all so new and we don't know how it will shape our lives and our children's lives, the sedentary nature of it all, whether I am monitoring it enough or too much (doubtful), just to name a few.
What I hate: Competing with these damn devices all the time for my kids' attention (and my husband's for that matter), the incessant noise of it all, the content, its constant presence, the fact that they just move from one to another when using them or even when they are asking permission to use something, just to name a few.
I thought I was all set with my loves/hates/worries until yesterday when my daughter added a new wrinkle. She and I were in the kitchen getting ready for school/work when all of a sudden, I heard an adult voice. Since it's just the two of us and the TV was off, I was obviously confused. Then I realized that she had video called her friend with this wonderful (insert heavy sarcasm here) thing called Facetime and I was hearing her friend's mom yelling. Are you kidding me? Do I really need another family's morning stress in my house at 7:45 a.m.? Ummm, that would be a no since with 1 kid in high school, 2 in middle school and only 1 working bathroom, I have quite enough of my own. Needless to say, that won't be allowed anymore!!
