The reason that I still root for the Pats is partly because my dad was a long time season ticket holder when I was a kid. So I grew up with him going to games, rooting his heart out, wearing this dead ugly shirt (now that I wish I had a picture of). They were a part of the fabric of my life, what we did on Sundays, the first professional sporting event that I attended. They broke our hearts in 1976 and then again in 1978. And 1985? That was my first year of college and I was home for break during the playoffs so I watched all the games with my dad and brother. Unfortunately, I had to go back to school before the Super Bowl. Yeah, unfortunate for me because until 2001, my dad and brother were still blaming me for that loss (now you know why I said in yesterday's post that watching with them was priceless. It got the monkey off my back)
I'm raising my kids the same way. I don't really bring them to games (not free) but I do bring them to rallies (free) and training camp every year (also free). In fact, we have gone to training camp for so long that we went when it was at Bryant College and I once had Troy Brown sign the baby (she's now 13).
I thought it might be fun to share some of my favorite pictures of our fandom:
