I have said it before in this space, it is not the traditions that you have that are important but the fact that you have them. Well in my house apparently if we do things once then it automatically becomes a tradition. Like for instance, the fact that last night I had to have a giant sleepover for 15 kids in a tent (yes a TENT) on my deck because I was foolish enough to have one last year. Most of the things that we do in the summer are repeats: a trip to Block Island, check, Second Beach in Newport, check, waking early to see the sunrise, still unchecked at the moment. For the kids, I think the cherry on the top of the summer sundae is definitely a trip to Canobie Lake Park. This year our trip was even more anticipated because there is a brand new roller coaster that features a 97 degree drop. For the math challenged like me, that means that riders plummet more than straight down. Needless to say, the kids had an absolute blast while I checked another thing off my summer must do list. Still have to work on that sunrise though.
Each place has its own traditions as well. On Block Island we have to eat lunch at the boat bar.
Typical picture I think: girls working the model look, boy working the goofy look.
Notice the water temp: 71 degrees. Maybe not warm but not bad for the Northeast. I was sad this day because it was August 1st and the summer was flying by, now it will be September tomorrow :(

I hope that everyone got to do all their summer things and enjoys what's left of the summer!
